St. George Dragons star Tim Lafai is mighty happy to be home.

He is back for the Toa Samoa test match against Fiji at Apia Park next Saturday.

The Weekend Observer caught up with him yesterday.

“I was born here in Samoa and it’s always an honour to put on the blue and white jersey,” he said.

“Not many players get the opportunity to play here in Apia Park.  So to play with these boys in my hometown is awesome. ”

The Toa Samoa star hails from the village of Sataua, Savai’i and has been playing for theToa Samoa  for the past four years.

He just recently represented Samoa in the World Cup and the Four Nations.

He has been playing in the NRL for 6 years , having made his debut at only 19 years old with the Bulldogs.

This year, Lafai played a starring role at centre for the St. George llawara Dragons.

Lafai and a number of other NRL players will have ten days to prepare for Fiji.

However, they have been playing together for quite some time which  should prove to be an advantage in the upcoming match.

“We’ve been running with the same team and same coaching staff.

“Matt Parrish, has   done  an awesome  job keeping the group tight.  I think that goes a long way in winning games.   If the group’s tight and the boys want to play for each other and their country , I think that goes a long way.”

Tim’s message for the people of Samoa is:

“Everyone out there in Samoa is watching, it would be awesome to get you guys behind us, we need all your support.  You guys came here for the Manu Samoa vs. All Blacks and we would love that same experience that the boys experienced.  So get out here and we’ll be doing our best for you guys.”
