A 15-year-old girl of Magiagi and Tufulele who went missing on August 15 has been found and reunited with her family.

The Samoa Police, Prisons and Correction Service advised the public in a post on its Facebook page on Thursday Tuimatalililila Lematau Kitione has been located with reunited safely with her parents.

"We wish to acknowledge the support of the public which led to the successful reunion of the teenager and her family."

The family early in the week told the Samoa Observer, through the teenager's big brother Jefferey Kitione, that they feared for her safety as she had a heart condition and there were reports of her connection with local gangs.

“She had never given us any reason in our relationship to make us suspect that she might be with a boy or anything like that,” Mr. Kitione said in an interview.

“My parents kept scolding her for sleeping over at her girlfriends’ houses or our relatives’ without letting them know. But at the end of the day, we will always be informed of her whereabouts but this is the first time she’s missing like this."

“Wherever you are sis, come back home. Our home is not the same anymore and mom and dad are really worried about you.

“We just want to know if she’s alive because the worst part is she has a heart disease so we’re unsure if she’s alive or not.”

The teenager, who went missing for 13 days before she was located and reunited with her family, is a Year 10 student at the Pesega College.
