Unit holders of the Unit Trust of Samoa (U.T.O.S.) are now able to purchase units or open new accounts in Savai'i through a partnership with the Gambling Control Authority (G.C.A.).

The new partnership was announced by the Minister of Finance, Sili Epa Tuioti and the Minister of Public Enterprises, Lautafi Selafi Purcell, at Amoa Resort.

Attending the event were unit holders in Savaii who in previous Annual General Meetings for U.T.O.S., voiced the need for a U.T.O.S. agency on the big island to open new accounts and purchase units.

It is because the process for unit holders in Savaii traveling all the way to Apia to access these services is problematic.

Sili who is also the Minister for U.T.O.S., contentedly announced that after a thorough review by U.T.O.S., the G.C.A. has now become the official distribution agent for U.T.O.S., selling units in Savaii.

Unitholders residing in Savaii can now avoid the long travels to Apia, by visiting the G.C.A. Salelologa branch to make deposits into their U.T.O.S. account or open new accounts.

The Minister for Finance further stated that in the long run, this partnership will commit to have more branches available in the outer villages (including Upolu) that allow unitholders such as farmers, fishermen and hardworking Samoans the chance to invest in the Trust.

Sili also reminded Unitholders not to worry about these technological threats, as U.T.O.S. has one of the most secure online systems for buying and selling units supported by International accredited Cyber Security Companies.

Lautafi spoke on behalf of the G.C.A. stating that this partnership is a gateway for more Savaii residents to invest in the U.T.O.S. that has over the years given benefit to people of Samoa.

He also further explained that with this partnership, should you be one of the lucky winners with any of the Lotto games, U.T.O.S. is now available as an option for you to invest a portion of your winnings with.

Furthermore the Lautafi reminded uni tholders of the mobile vehicle service that covers all of Savaii every Thursdays and Fridays for residents that are unable to travel to Salelologa.

Savaii residents are advised to contact UTOS on 26949 / 29916 for further queries regarding the possibility of investing in the Trust from Savaii.
