Muliagatele and Mapusua appointed coaches of Manu Sevens and Manu 15s

Two former Manu Samoa internationals have been appointed as coaches of the Manu Samoa Sevens and Manu Samoa 15s.

Muliagatele Brian Lima has been appointed Head Coach of the Manu Samoa Sevens while Mapusua Seilala Mapusua will take charge of the Manu Samoa 15s. Both Coaches have been appointed to two year terms.

The announcement of the new coaches was made by the Samoa Rugby Union, following the Board meeting on Tuesday night.

The Chief Executive Officer of the S.R.U. congratulated Muliagatele and Mapusua on the new appointments in a press release that was distributed to media outlets.

"We want to congratulate Muliagatele on his appointment to lead our Manu Samoa Sevens and our National Sevens Program. We wish him the very best as he tries to revive our National Sevens Program," said Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai.

Muliaga takes up the role as the Manu Samoa 7's Head coach after Sir Gordon Tietjens resigned as the Head Coach in May, this year.

In congratulating Mapusua, Faleomavaega said "Mapusua has come through as the preferred candidate following an extensive and vigorous recruitment process.

"On behalf of Samoa Rugby Union, I want to congratulate Mapusua on his appoinment, and we wish him well for this new phase in the Manu Samoa History."

According the statement by S.R.U., Mapusua was recommended by a Five-person selection panel and its recommendation was endorsed and ratified by the Samoa Rugby Union Board during a meeting on Tuesday night.

"Samoa Rugby Union went through a lengthy process in reviewing the Manu Samoa RWC campaign with the aim to make sure lessons learnt will be dealt professionally and make sure it won’t repeat in the next cycle hence the delay in making the appointment," the statement reads.

The new coaches used to play for as teammates and has represented Samoa in the previous years.
