A man has died after being run over by a truck at the end of Monday's Father's Day holiday in what the Samoa Observer can reveal Police are treating as a possible case of vehicular homicide

The man, who is from Vaiusu, was walking down a road in Nu'u just before sundown at the end of Monday's Father's Day holiday when he was run over by a Dyna model heavy-duty truck.

The driver did not return to the scene but continued on the road, Michale Mautinei in Nu'u, told the Samoa Observer.

Eyewitnesses told the Samoa Observer the man was believed to have been drinking with several men, including, it has been alleged by a Police and local source, the driver of the truck.

Police were seen at the scene this morning, when the Samoa Observer arrived. They declined to offer comment on the record.

But the Dyna model truck involved has been impounded by the Police and it remains at their Fagalii compound as investigations continue.

This is a developing story.
