The Attorney General’s Office has yet to finalise charges against a Principal Accountant Officer of the Audit Office who has been accused of forgery and other offences. 

Tovio Junior Taefu appeared before Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese, on Tuesday. 

He was represented by lawyer, Lefau Harry Schuster. 

The prosecutor and Attorney General’s Office lawyer, Magele Leone Sua, asked for an adjournment to allow the prosecution to finalise the charges against Taefu. 

Chief Justice Satiu granted a two weeks adjournment.

The 25-year-old accused of Vaimoso and Si'ufaga Falelatai has been released on bail. 

He has been ordered to report to the Police station every Friday. 

The defendant is being charged in relation to allegations of forgery, using forged documents where public funds are suspected to have been misappropriated. 

The role of the Audit Office is to ensure the financial integrity of Samoa's Government and to provide independent and professional audit services to all public sector entities in Samoa and report on their findings.
