Young netballers have been urged to promote fair play and respect one another with the PFL Netball League now in its fifth week.

Reverend Siaosi Salesulu gave a message of encouragement to the young netballers when addressing them on how to conduct themselves on and off the court.

Samoa Netball Federation CEO Rosemarie Lome said they have been witnessing increasing excitement across the league between the teams as well as supporters.

The matches will not be played this week, however, a new grade established by NetGo will start their games on Friday evenings.

"There are 38 teams from 10 clubs playing across 6 divisions.  This week an additional grade was established due to the demand from clubs – Social Grade to be played every Friday evening," according to a media statement released by the organisers.

Lome said it was a great way to keep the netballers healthy and while it is good for socializing doesn't have to be competitive.

“Netball is a great way to stay healthy and make lifelong friends, netball is great for socialising and it doesn’t always have to be competitive as there are many levels available for everyone to play,” she added.

“So with this additional grade, it will expand our player database to include mothers, grandmothers of our young players as well as those that are returning back to the sport.

“To see the joy, smiles and laughter our game is bringing to our netball community and how in some cases extends beyond the court and into the classroom, reminds me of the power of sport.”

Top team United Soulz also confirmed the participation of one of their teams in the B-Grade on Friday and see the introduction of a new category as another opportunity for new players to have a better understanding of the game.

"Yes, we have a team for the B-Grade. And we have been playing netball for about 10 years now. For our squad, it's a mixture of old players and the new ones. So they help each other in terms of learning sports, the technique and everything,” said Cecilia Tevita of United Soulz.

“With this additional grade, it can help them learn more about netball. And creates more time with their squad.”

The NetGo organisers acknowledged their sponsors for the additional grade. They are Teuila and management at PFL, Broadcast provider - Aotearoa and TV3, Le Vai Limited, Naydith Events and Hire, Frankie's Supermarket, Samoa Commercial Bank and Signs Studio.
