Families featured in the Samoa Observer column Village Voice are receiving assistance from anonymous Good Samaritans.

After three years of living without any water supply, the family of Imeleta Faleulu were presented with a water tank, thanks to an anonymous donor.

The water tank sponsor contacted the Samoa Victim Support Group [S.V.S.G.] Juniors – through its Access to Clean Water Project – to make it a reality for the water-less family.

With the support of the Satitoa Congregational Christian Church of Samoa youth, who assisted in building a base for the family’s new tank in Tiavea, local firm TANK GUY Company delivered the tank for free to the family’s home.

Mrs. Faleulu acknowledged the support of the individuals and the different organisations that they represented to provide them with a water tank. 

“It has been a three year struggle of searching and fetching water every day,” she said.

“We could not afford to pay for water connection or to buy a water tank but thanks to the kind hearts of those that helped, we can finally be less stressed.

“My family depends on the sales of coconut oils a week and even with that small income it is only used for food supplies and other necessities.”

Emphasising that her family cannot repay their kindness and sincerity, Mrs. Faleulu said she and her family can only pray for their blessings. 

“I thank God for this blessing but I pray for his blessing upon those who helped my family, we have nothing to repay your kindness and who would have thought that a good Samaritan someone I didn't even know would help my family.”

Another family that was featured in the Village Voice and was the recipient of anonymous support is a family of six from Samusu.

The family of Iutita Tavae was given monetary assistance and two tarpaulins for their small and vulnerable home at Samusu.

The cash donor, who also wanted to remain anonymous, asked the Samoa Observer to deliver their assistance to the family. 

Mrs. Tavae previously told the Samoa Observer in an interview that due to financial difficulties and no form of stable income, they face various hardships.

“If we are lucky we can get $50 a week but if not, we will try to live off our plantation,” she said.

Mrs. Tavae thanked the Samoa Observer for its Village Voice column which has enabled her family to receive assistance from generous donors.

“I am shocked for the help my family has gotten,” she said. “I never expected anyone would just help us despite not knowing who we are, we are practically strangers who do not own much.

“We are financially unstable but my family can only pray that God will bless the heart of those that helped us. I truly believe that God answers our prayers.”

In tears while holding her newborn child, she expressed her heartfelt appreciation to those that offered their family a helping hand.
