The big island of Savai'i will host the first leg of the Vodafone Samoa National Sevens Series on 7 and 8 August 2020.

The Samoa Rugby Union's Tuiasau Leota Petaia confirmed that the tournament will be played at the Don Bosco College field in Salelologa.

The number of participating teams has yet to be confirmed.

But the President of the Aana Rugby Union, Afamasaga Rico Tupa'i, said Aana is looking forward to the tournament.

"I can confirm that Aana Chiefs has a team for the Sevens in Savai'i," he said. "We are awaiting on Marist to confirm our friendly game on Saturday in preparations for that event."

The President for the Faleata Rugby Union, Leuluaialii Tony Aiono, told the Observer Sports that some of their club teams will be competing on their own.

"I can confirm Marist, Lepea, Vaigaga, Taufusi and Malie. But I cannot say how many teams each club will have. They won't compete as a union but as a club," said Leuluaialii.

Whoever is confirmed,  Tama Uli Salelologa will be ready and waiting for them.
