Cabinet will soon decide on a new Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) for the Samoa Life Assurance Corporation (SL.A.C.). following a recommendation being submitted for consideration.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of S.L.A.C., Tuatagaloa Alfred Schwalger, who said the Board has already submitted recommendation for the new C.E.O. on 14 July 2020.

“We are waiting for Cabinet to decide on the recommendation,” said the Chairman.

“I cannot say who the recommended applicant is, the decision might be overturned but we shall wait until the decision is finalised.”

There were 12 applicants for the position with seven people being shortlisted, said Tuatagaloa.

The position was previously held by Lei'ataua Alden Godinet, who has resigned to serve the church.

Lei'ataua is a ordained deacon of the Catholic Church and is now the new Chief Financial Officer for the Catholic Church.

The Government-owned corporation’s life insurance arm sells and administers life insurance contracts to consumers.

These are kept continually under review to ensure that all markets can be catered for.

The Corporation also offers a full advisory service, not only in personal but also business insurance and related financial services.

Established in 1977, the S.L.A.C. is one of the longest running of the Government’s public enterprises.
