Met Office warns small crafts of active intense weather

The Meteorological Office is advising the public that small craft advisory is to remain effective for costal to open waters all over Samoa.

A severe weather statement issued at 5pm on Monday also stated a wind advisory for dissemination.

“SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY – REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR ALL SAMOA COASTAL TO OPEN WATERs WIND ADVISORY – IS NOW IN FORCE FOR EASTERN TO SOUTHERN DISTRICTS AND HIGHLANDS,” statement issued. 

On land, rain has been experience several times of each days and continued to do so in the beginning of this week.

Drifting from the Northeast of New Zealand is an extreme high pressure flowing eastward and direct fresh Southeast winds.

This will create a growth in winds from 40 to 45 kph for Eastern to Southern districts as well as highlands.

Coastal to open waters of Samoa are to expect these severe winds to maintain waves and swells of 2.5 to 3 meters.

So Small Craft Advisory are therefore to remain in effect with wind advisories being in force to specified locations.

Potential Impacts: Fresh SE winds at times. Strong and pull out currents as well as rough seas and high surf.
