A one-week programme that promotes the possibility of higher education in the United States to students around the world - including Samoa, run by the U.S. Embassy in Samoa, ended yesterday.

The programme is deigned to offer accurate, comprehensive, and current information about opportunities for post-secondary institutions in the United States.

EducationUSA is an  educational virtual program under the U.S Embassy.

Apulu Veronika Mortenson, an Education Adviser who promotes all accredited U.S higher education institutions, said EducationUSA is a series of Facebook Live sessions featuring twenty U.S university admission experts sharing their knowledge on a range of topics surrounding the students' admissions process.

"All sessions are recorded and will be available on the EducationUSA Samoa Facebook page. Students can follow #EdUSAVirtualWeek for more information," she said

The programme is available to all college students (Year 9 to 13) and NUS Foundation Year and they are invited to virtually join the sessions that are now available on their Facebook page.

EducationUSA provides information on pathways to higher education in the United States for those students from Samoa who are interested in the opportunity.

"It positively promotes other options and places for pursuing higher education, when students finish college and Foundation Year studies at NUS, in the USA. Education USA points foreign students in the right direction when searching for American colleges/universities that are a good fit for them," Apulu added

For this weeks program, students from Le Amosa and Leifiifi College participated in the live sessions at the Nelson Memorial Library and had enjoyed the program.

"They learned a lot about the many ways that foreign students can study in the United States of America," she said

"In the words of one teacher present at these sessions, “Awesome opportunities abound here. Thanks for an injection of hope and motivation.”
