Aleisa East now has access to water, courtesy of a project led by the Samoa Water Authority.

The S.W.A. project included the installation of a 11.8 kilometre pipeline as well as a water tank with their opening also coinciding with the commissioning of the village’s newly constructed road.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, Cabinet Ministers, staff of SWA and the Land Transport Authority [L.T.A.] Aleisa East community residents attending the official ceremony to mark the conclusion of the projects. 

Speaking in his keynote address, Tuilaepa thanked the members of Aleisa East and Laloanea community for their support in the development of the country. 

"The work that was carried out included a tank construction of 250 cubic meters which was constructed by King Constructions and was funded by the World Bank at a cost of $129,490," he said. "The work also included an 11.8km pipeline installation which was installed by Bluebird Constructions. It was funded by the World Bank at a cost of $1,448,725.15."

Material costs for all the works were funded by the E.U Budget Support for $1,255,486.56.

The commissioning of the village’s new water supply also coincided with the opening of the Laloanea road within the village. 

According to the Prime Minister, local firm R&R Construction was awarded the contract for the Laloanea road reconstruction last year and work was completed in May this year.

The water supply system and the road were officially opened by the Minister of Works, Transport Infrastructure, Papali'i Niko Lee Hang.

The Prime Minister concluded the program by thanking all partners whose support enabled the projects to be concluded. 

He also gave advice to the Aleisa East community, saying that they have a responsibility to take care of and maintain the infrastructure investments to ensure their longevity.

The total cost of the project was $2,833,701.71 tala.
