The Best Player of the Tournament Award has been give to Moomoo Ausage Falaniko of Marist St Joseph's, who walked away with a trophy and a $100 tala cheque.

He says that rugby is his passion, and maybe it is the reason why he is putting all his effort into the sport.

Falaniko is 21 years of age and recently moved to New Zealand but he has been playing for the Marist Club ever since he was young.

"I am staying in New Zealand but I always play for the Marist every time I come home, and the Marist has always been a family for me ever since I played at a young age. Rugby is my passion and I want to develop in every way possible and I believe playing with these boys can really help a lot," he said.

Upon receiving his award, Falaniko said he was really humbled and thanked the union for choosing him, while noting the difference between rugby in New Zealand and Samoa.

"I am humbled and honored for such an award, and I want to thank the union for selecting me. It is a very different level for rugby here in Samoa and New Zealand, there are lots of tournaments in N.Z. either against regional or states but in Samoa, there are lack of tournaments for the players to develop their skills more," he added.

Falaniko's advice to young kids who are thinking of pursuing a rugby sporting career is to go for it and to make sure they have a passion for the code and are not forced to join.

"If rugby is your passion then go for it, but don't force yourself to play a sport just because who said so. Just follow whichever sport you have a passion about, it will one day provide a good future for you and to help with your family as well," he added.

He believes that through his talent he can help his family, it can also put his village's name on the map.
