A man facing an attempted murder charge was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Viki Falaniko, of Vailoa, appeared before Supreme Court Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke over an incident alleged to have taken place in Aleisa in May of this year.

The defendant, who is yet to officially enter a plea, tried to plead guilty.

But Justice Leiataualesa prevented him from doing so.

Justice Leiataualesa advised the defendant that the criminal charge he is facing is serious and recommended he engaged a lawyer.

“I recommend that you engage counsel, given the seriousness of the charges,” he told the defendant.

The court granted Falaniko bail and advised him to make his court appearance next week.

The matter was adjourned to Monday to allow the defendant time to find a lawyer.
