The Tuanaimato Football field was a hive of activity on Saturday with the Football Federation Samoa's Upolu Youth League competition.

The Federation has separated the youth tournaments for Upolu and Savai'i.

“It is important that we have two main Youth Tournaments so that we can further grow and develop players, teams and football as a whole,” said Papali'i Laautuivanu, of the Federation.

“We also decided to make use of our numerous fields by hosting matches on weekdays and Saturdays which will create a festive environment and increase number of games to develop the players," he said.

The FFS aims to increase the number of clubs and is looking at hosting similar tournaments in the rural areas.

The matches on Saturday kicked off at 9am with feature games scheduled on the main field.

The FFS Upolu Youth competition caters for boys and girls categories specifically for registered clubs in Upolu and will run from the 20th June to 8th August 2020.
