The green light from the Samoa Rugby Union for the sub unions to resume regular activities has been welcomed by administrators of the sport in different corners of Samoa.

Among them is the Anoamaa East Rugby Union looking to kick-start the season, albeit a little late, at the end of this month.

Secretary, Taito S.T. Paulo, confirmed their annual tournament kicks off on 27 June 2020.

"Our tournament was put on hold due to the lockdown," he said.

"We will run our sevens programme to prepare for the upcoming national tournament. But as of now, we are trying to get the teams back and to see if there are any teams coming back to the union since it was on hold for two months."

Anoma'a East is also looking at fielding a team in the national Sevens tournament scheduled for August.

"That's the plan," he said.

"But we just need to wait for who turns up on the 27th June to confirm our participation. As of now we are focusing on the continuation of our 15 aside tournament."

Anoamaa East is sponsored by Schwartz Construction. The Secretary acknowledged the company's continuous support.

"Our major sponsor for our rugby union is the Schwartz Construction and they are ones helping out with organizing and in areas that needs assistance. But we are hoping that all the teams will return on the 27th June," he said.

According to Paulo, they are keen on doing well in the Sevens tournament.

"There will be two legs in Savaii and one at Lotopa which was discussed in the meeting. They won't be doing the usual provincial tournaments but they will do national tournaments," he added.
