The staff of the Audit Office have responded to a public appeal from the elders at Mapuifagalele through a donation of $4,000 to the home from their Social Fund.

Representatives of the Samoa Audit office made the trip to Mapuifagalele earlier this month to present their assistance.

The President of Social Club/Fund, Muaausa Marshall Maua, said the staff members were touched when they saw the public appeal from the Home of the Aged and they wanted to help.

"This initiative was raised by the Controller and Auditor-General - Mr Fuimaono Camillo Afele, in one of our Office meetings just before the SOE, so we were still working on how to give out our assistance to those in need, but then we saw the call on the media," Muaausa said.

Fifty-five members make up the Social Fund of the Audit office and they had individually agreed to contribute to the donation made.

The monetary donation made amounted to $4,000.

The staff of the Audit Office were allowed a few minutes to meet and greet some of the elders and the Sisters of the Poor & Mapuifagalele expressed their gratitude to the staff for such a donation.
