A Mother’s Day art competition run by local firm, Business Systems Ltd, has concluded with five people walking away with major prizes.

The deadline for the "All for Mom Art Contest" was last Friday with the company receiving 21 entries and awarding prizes on Saturday to the people who sent in the winning entries.

The art contest criteria was that the entry posted on the Business Systems Ltd Facebook page with the most likes and shares will win the grand prize.

Therefore, the winner of the contest with 323 likes and 1.2k shares on Facebook was Sala Scanlan Kovati Leaupepe, 68 years of age from Safato'a and Sapunaoa. The entry was sent in by her daughter Aloema Leaupepe and as captioned with a scripture from the Bible, Proverbs 31:12-20.

Sala expressed her gratitude for receiving the grand prize for this year's B.S.L.-run Mother’s Day art contest.

"I want to say a big thank you to B.S.L. for giving us the opportunity to win these great prizes. I was shocked by this and wasn’t expecting anything like this today," she said

"I wasn’t aware that my children had entered the competition and so for that I thank them as well. I was surprised when my daughter told me that we had a prize to uplift from B.S.L.

"I want to extend a huge thank you again to B.S.L. for this washing machine that I’ve received and to my children in Australia and New Zealand for their support.”

The prizes were presented by the company’s senior management Hesed Steffany (Retail Manager), Leeroy Bryce Feaunati (customer service manager) and Lalovi Peter Tau (Acting Marketing Manager).

Those who posted entries in the art contest witnessed the announcement of the winners at the company’s premises at 11am on Saturday.

Five lucky winners walked away with the major prizes while those who participated in the contest received consolation prizes prepared by B.S.L. which included a $50 shopping voucher and freebies.
