A family at Tufulele has been given a water tank, courtesy of a partnership between local firm Tank Guy and not-for-profit organisation Brown Girl Woke.

The water tank was received by Faamaoni Liu and his wife together with their three children last Friday.

Speaking to Samoa Observer, Mr Liu said that they are not able to access the water supply as it was affected during road works.

"The water supply does not reach our house so we use plastic barrels and buckets to collect water from the rain. And if it doesn't rain at all, we go to nearby families, who have access to the water supply and fill our buckets from for the preparation of our food," he added

Mr Liu expressed his gratitude for the water tank and emphasised that will assist his family in terms of their needs.

"I'm grateful for this project, now we have water to provide for us daily without worrying about where to get water from or waiting for when it rains," he said

He said that the Samoa Water Authority is yet to contact them to advise on how their water access will be restored. However, the village council is determined to ensure that every family in the village has access to safe drinking water.

Mr Liu's son also thanked Brown Girl Woke for the shopping they had brought with them and expressed how blessed their family is with such a donation.

"I thank those who helped us, thank you for helping families living in poverty. They came and looked and the condition of our house and had asked my parents what we really needed," he said.

"May you be blessed with what you have given to my family."
