The Ministry of Police is investigating a traffic accident where a brand new Toyota Hilux flipped and landed on its roof at Malololelei last week.

A Police senior traffic officer told Samoa Observer that the vehicle in the accident belonged to the Faumuina-Te’o family in Salani, Falealili.

“We were contacted by the family when the incident occurred and the driver underwent a breathalyzer field test. Fortunately, no one was injured and no other car was involved,” said the senior officer, who is not allowed to talk to the media.

The senior officer added that there are claims that an oncoming vehicle switched to the lane that the truck was using, compelling the driver to turn quickly resulting in the truck flipping onto its back.

Samoa Observer contacted the Member of Parliament, Faumuina Te’o Samuelu for comment but he declined, except to say that the truck in question belongs to his children.

“That car belongs to my children, not me and therefore I will not say anything because it is not my car,” he said.
