The Alofa play is worth watching
I was lucky enough to have a ‘sneak peak’ of the play ‘aloFA’ as the actors went through a dress rehearsal in preparation for opening on Friday the 21st October.
I wasn’t sure what my expectations were beforehand, and happily went along not knowing what the standard would be.
After watching the play, I was blown away by the talent and the masterpiece that was created by Fiona Collins and Naea Asolelei To’alepai.
I was also deeply moved by the content and the universal themes that many families face. This play was world class and I can only hope that after it is shown in Samoa it is able to be shared with audiences in New Zealand and Australia and beyond. The cast were so talented and their acting transformed me to another place. The characters were real, the plot deeply moving.
I would like to congratulate all involved in the production of this play. I encourage people who are thinking to go and see this play, to make sure you definitely do. It is not every day we have these opportunities in Samoa.
Fiona Collins has created a wonderful play and one that will stir your emotions and soul.
The play is at Maliu Mai bar and Grill in Fugalei, tickets can also be brought at Legends cafe. Thank you for allowing me to watch the dress rehearsal, I think I might just have to go back and watch it again with an audience.
