The organisers of the Samoa Vibes Concert series have confirmed three more events for this year, though the second one in June will depend on the Government's coronavirus (COVID-19) measures in Samoa.

The inaugural concert on March 13 – which had performances by Auckland-based reggae band Three Houses Down and featured 14-year-old singer, General Fiyah – was held at the Funway Park in Apia.

Dwayne Bentley, of Samoa Vibes Concert, told Samoa Observer in an email that the dates for the next three concerts of the year have been confirmed.

"All together the plan is for four concerts this year. We had our inaugural event on 13th March. The next is on 19th June, followed by 28th August and the final concert will be on 27th November," he said.

Mr. Bentley said the only new addition to the second concert in June is a group called Tomorrow People, which is a New Zealand band comprising musicians from diverse backgrounds with a common love for reggae music. 

He added that they are still awaiting feedback from other artists including overseas performers.

"For the next event in June, other artists are to be confirmed at this stage. We are waiting to hear back from some overseas performers. We hope to have up to two more from abroad and of course we will also have local musicians like we did for our inaugural event," he said.

The concert series organisers are hoping that the coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic will subside by the second half of June this year, though Mr Bentley indicated that the June and August concerts could be combined if that doesn't happen. 

"We’re optimists and are hopeful that the current situation, at least in Samoa, will have eased off by the second half of June. We are also mindful that the current situation may extend. If that is the case, we will comply with Government orders and combine our June concert with our event which is scheduled for the end of August," he added. 

They plan to start selling tickets for the concert after Easter and increase their marketing, though that will depend on measures introduced by the Government. 

The concert series organisers have acknowledged the support of Vailima Samoa Breweries, Samoa Airways, Taumeasina Island Resort, Samoa Tourism Authority, QHF Lighting, Federal Pacific Group, Eye Spy Radio 87.5, Tara Hirage and KL Security.
