The Electric Power Corporation (E.P.C.) has reduced the availability of its services in response to the Government’s state of emergency, the Government-owned utility announced on Tuesday evening.

A range of E.P.C. services will be suspended with immediate effect to “ensure safety precautions are adhered to for the public’s well-being”, according to a media statement late on Tuesday signed by the utility’s General Manager Tologata Galumalemana Lupematasila.

Among the services suspended until further notice include: permit applications for all types of wiring for homes and businesses; the installation of new and temporary connections; line constructions; pole relocations and new street light installations.

All surveys and field work, with the exception of the Corporation’s 24 hour fault service will also be suspended and changes have been made to the availability of its prepaid vending and “top up” services.

The Corporation’s main office at Sogi will be open for the purchase of prepaid power-units, “top ups” and billing services between 9am and 3pm.

Its Vaitele office will allow vendors and merchants to make prepaid power “top ups” between 9am and 3pm only. Consumers can continue to purchase prepaid power and units 24 hours a day.

At the Salelologa Office, prepaid vending, vendor “top ups” and billing services will be open from 9am to 3pm only.

“E.P.C. advises our prepaid and smart meter customers to top up your units and credits at your nearest vendor, our E.P.C. office and through Bluesky M-Tala and DIGICEL’s Money Wallet services,” the statement said.

“For all our E.P.C. Vendors, E.P.C. advises to top up your credit at our Sogi, Vaitele and Salelologa branches for sufficient supply and smooth vending service to our customers during these two weeks."

The changes will take effect until further notice.

Consumers seeking more information can contact the E.P.C.’s main office at Sogi on the following telephone numbers: 65555, 65545, 65543 and via mobile on 7567009, 7623765 or 7705556. For Savaii customers may contact EPC’s Salelologa office on phone numbers 51817 and 7664426.
