Who is still on the run?

The number of escaped prisoners still on the loose following Monday night’s prison break has fallen to four after the Police made four arrests. 

In a statement posted online on Tuesday afternoon the Police said that a total of four prisoners had been recaptured including: Simanu'a Manuele; Daniel Vailopa; Visesio Aso and Isaia Liuafi.

“We acknowledge the assistance of the villages of Faleseela and Fasitoo-uta for their support in capturing [...] these escapees,” the Police said in a statement. 

On Monday night, 29 prisoners escaped from Tanumalala Prison, attacking prison guards in the process. As of Tuesday morning, the Police have captured 25, after working all through the night.

Among the four prisoners still on the loose, are several who are behind bars for offences relating to theft and narcotics. 

Repeat escapee Silao Faaleleiga (also known by Leleiga) was in prison for possession of narcotics and burglary and theft. In May last year he was apprehended after escaping Tafaigata Prison. 

And Matthew Fili Solo, who was out on bail when he stole more than $20,000 worth of mobile phones from then-Bluesky’s offices.

Francis Heather is serving time for possession of narcotics, and Misi Ioasa was sentenced for robbery, actual bodily harm and possession of narcotics.
