Teacher guilty of sex acts on students
The Supreme Court has found a 74-year-old teacher guilty of sexual conduct on four primary school girls.
Sola Alaimanu, of Ti’avea, was found guilty of three counts of sexual conduct with a child under 12 and one count of sexual conduct with a young person under 16 years old.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Justice Fepulea’i Ameperosa Roma handed down the decision on Thursday afternoon following a hearing earlier this month.
After considering the evidence before the Court, Justice Fepuleai ruled that all the charges against Sola have been proven beyond reasonable doubt.
The four victims of the offending by Sola were students of the accused at the Ti’avea Primary School.
According to Justice Fepuleai, he is satisfied that the 74-year-old committed the offense by touching the young girls' breasts.
Three of the victims are 12 years old and another one is under 16 years of age.
Sola is remanded on bail pending his sentence next week. He had since been in custody in September last year after he breached his bail condition by going back to Ti'avea.
The prosecutor is the Attorney General’s Office lawyer Ann Matalasi while Tusa Tasi Patea is the defense lawyer.
