Man in alleged Chinese attack has 2016 arrest warrant
The man charged for attacking three Chinese nationals in Salelologa Savai’i, has an outstanding attempted murder charge against him dating back to 2016.
Puligi Patolo Aita, also known as Andrew, of Salelologa and Safotulafai, has been charged in relation to an alleged robbery and assault at a Salelologa shop.
His previous conviction of attempted murder surfaced in Court this week when Aita failed to appear in Court.
Prosecution had made reference to Aita’s file where he was charged for an attempted murder in 2016.
Prosecutor, Magele Leone Su’a, said the accused has an outstanding attempted murder charge and a warrant of arrest from 2016 that has never been executed.
Aita was scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court this week for prosecution to finalise the charges against him.
However, the accused failed to appear in Court and Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke issued a warrant for his arrest.
The accused is facing charges of aggravated burglary and robbery, two counts of causing injury, armed with a dangerous weapon, intentional damage and theft.
He was granted bail last week Monday when the matter was first called in Court.
