The Samoa Qualifications Authority (S.Q.A.) has a new Chief Executive Officer: Leali’ifano Easter Manila–Silipa.

The appointment of the new head of S.Q.A. was confirmed by the organisation's Chairperson, Gatoloaifaana Tilianamua Afamasaga.

Leali’ifano is currently the Assistant C.E.O. for the Research Policy and Planning (R.P.P.) Division in the Authority.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Gatoloaifaana said the appointment of Leali’ifano was approved by Cabinet in its meeting last week.

She said the usual appointment process is underway before the tenure of the new C.E.O. becomes effective.

“As of now she is with S.Q.A. and she needs to tidy up her Division’s work preparation to hand over to the person that will be Acting [in her previous position],” said Gatoloaifaana.

“She is given two to three weeks to do that and then she is sworn in and commences work [as new C.E.O.].”

According to the Chairperson, there were four applicants shortlisted for the top job with Leali’ifano taking over from Letuimanu’asina Dr. Emma Kruse Vaai.

The former C.E.O. resigned in November last year leaving the position vacant.

Matautia Molia Taioalo is currently the Acting C.E.O. for S.Q.A. pending the date when Leali’ifano takes over the position.
