Tepatasi win first National Sevens leg

Tepatasi Aleipata won the first leg of the Bluesky National Women's Sevens Series on Saturday at the Samoa Rugby Union Fields in Tuana'imato.

The Marist International Sevens runners-up went one better than their result a fortnight ago, being crowned champions after a 14-12 win over Apia Maroons in the final.

Assistant coach Lote Sefo said they knew what they had to fix after Marist.

"We went back and we worked hard on it," she said.

After topping Pool C, Tepatasi beat third-placed No Idea 19-17 to advance to the final, where they had another close win over Apia.

Sefo said there is still room for improvement from the team:

"We had so many missed passes and missed tackles today, so I guess we're going to work on those for next week.

"I just wanna thank God for blessing us today, because without him we wouldn't be able to win this tournament."

The final two legs of the Series will be played over the next two weekends.
