Women plead guilty to assault of Parliament senior official

Two women have pleaded guilty to assaulting an Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Legislative Assembly at the Mulinu’u office in October last year.

Sosefina Talauta Tualaulelei and Taramara Laupepa are accused of assaulting Executive Manager at the Legislative office in Mulinu’u during work hours sometime in October. 

Mrs. Tualaulelei pleaded guilty to one count of actual bodily harm causing injury while Ms. Laupepa pleaded guilty to assault. 

The women entered their plea before the District Court Judge, Talasa Atoa Saaga, through their lawyer this week. 

Lawyer Leilani Tamati represented Mrs. Tualaulelei while Diana Roma stood for Ms. Laupepa.

Prosecutor Rexona Titi withdrew a joint charge of actual bodily harm against the women. 

Judge Saaga then adjourned the matter for a pre-sentencing report, Victims Impact Report and probation report on 20 February.
