An independent panel tasked to conduct interviews for a new Samoa International Finance Agency (S.I.F.A.) Chief Executive Officer will make the recommendation to Cabinet this week.

This was confirmed by S.I.F.A. Chairman, Tuatagaloa Alfred Schwalger, who said the panel will be meeting on Tuesday to make the recommendation for a new C.E.O.

“Our last meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday) and we will make the nomination on that person and will submit the report with the Minister for Cabinet,” said Tuatagaloa in an interview with the Samoa Observer.

“There were five of them shortlisted and the interviews were done last week…”

The Chairman declined to name the applicants who made the shortlist from the eight people that applied for the position.

The C.E.O. position was re-advertised last year after Cabinet revoked the contract of former C.E.O., To’oto’oleaava Dr. Fanaafi Aiono – Le Tagaloa.

A recommendation from a Selection Committee that was endorsed by S.I.F.A. Board to reappoint To’oto’oleaava was rejected by Cabinet insisting to re-advertise the position.

Furthermore, the Cabinet also asked that an Independent Panel is selected to conduct the interview process.
