Six months after 35-year-old Semi Leau went missing Police say they are still searching for clues about his whereabouts - or fate.

Mr. Leau was reported missing on July 23 after last being seen going swimming at around 4am at the Ocean Club Resort, Maninoa Siumu.

Police Commissioner, Fuiavailiili Egon Keil, was asked for an update on Friday and he said the investigation was yet to reach its conclusion.

"Its always open until we come to a conclusion but as far as I know we still haven't hit a conclusion on that case, therefore it's still pending," he said.

Mr. Leau was last seen with a woman, according to the Resort's manager.

Police had no leads on the possibility of foul play being involved, Fuiavailiili said.

"That's why we're investigating the case to see if there is foul play, we don't have all the evidence right now," he said.

The week after the man was reported missing, Police issued a departure prohibition order for the woman, an overseas resident, but the Commissioner was unable to say on Friday whether the departure ban remained in effect.

The woman's name has was not revealed.

A month after Mr. Leau's disappearance, his family from Solosolo criticised the Police response to the case and accused them of making "little efforts if any" to search for him.

Mr. Leau is a taxi driver and used to be at the Manutagi Taxi Stand before his disappearance. His family members said he has no wife or children and is the third-born of his four siblings.
