An expected gift for a devastated mother

A mother who lost three children to the measles epidemic received a helping hand from the South Pacific Business Development (S.P.B.D.) Programme on Friday.

Fa'apaia Eti, who is an S.P.B.D. client, hosted an unexpected visit from the micro-finance company representatives who turned up with a gift.

“I am happy and shocked at the same time," she said. "I did not expect the S.P.B.D. to do this."

The mother who received $1,500 and other goods is extremely grateful. 

“I would like to thank the S.P.B.D. for the money and also for the things that they have provided for us," she said. 

"It means a lot and it will help us as well."

S.P.B.D. is also visit their other clients whose families were affected.

“She is one of the women in the Laulii Utusami Centre and she is also the only one that lost more than one child to the measles”, says General Manager, Luapene Lefau.

“After, Lauli'i then we are going to Magiagi and then continue on to the other villages."
