Prosecution ask for jail term on woman who poured boiled water on husband
The Office of the Attorney General has asked the Court for a custodial sentence of three years imprisonment for a woman who poured boiling water on her husband.
Manamea Choo Koon, who has now received legal assistance through lawyer, Alex Su’a, pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to her husband, Risati Choo Koon, at Alafua on 25th September 2019.
On Tuesday, lawyer for the Attorney General’s Office, Veiuto Fa’asi'i, filed a sentence submission asking for a custodial sentence against the mother.
But Mr. Su’a told the Court he was recently asked to represent the accused and would need time to reply to the submission from the prosecution.
Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala – Warren adjourned the matter for sentencing on 13th February 2020.
The accused had the support of her husband and other relatives in Court.
The penalty for the charge of grievous bodily harm is imprisonment of not more than 10 years.
