The Samoa Barbarians Under-18 Boys and Girls teams both achieved top 10 finishes at the World Schools 7s this weekend.

The Boys side won two of their three pool games on Friday to advance to the Cup quarterfinals.

They opened with wins over Two Blues Sydney (24-5) and Vanuatu Barbarians (20-7) before going down 33-12 to Fiji, who topped Pool C.

Samoa lost their quarterfinal 21-12 to NZ Maori on Saturday, then went down 39-0 to Tongan Barbarians in the Plate semifinal to finish in a tie for seventh.

The Under-18 Girls struggled on Friday, and ended up finishing fourth in a strong Pool H.

They lost 5-29 to Australian side Mako 7s, then 5-22 to NZ Fijians before a 41-10 loss to eventual finalists Japan SDS.

They found some momentum on Day Two though, beating National Indigenous Australia 5-17 in the Bowl quarterfinal, then Central Coast Seahawks 24-12 in the Bowl semifinal.

Samoa lost the Bowl final 0-15 to NZ Dutch, and settled for 10th place overall.
