Attorney General reviews Police investigation against top cop
The investigation of suspended Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Khamtahn Stanley, in connection to an incident where a young man was killed last month, has been completed.
This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil, who said the file has been referred to the Office of the Attorney General.
“We have completed our investigation," he said.
"The file is being reviewed by the A.G.’s office. We have formulated the charges and we are now waiting on the A.G.’s office for their final recommendation and then the police will do what needs to be done."
Sergeant Stanley is a non-commissioned officer who had prosecuted a number of high profile cases during his career with the Ministry of the Police.
He was suspended from duty following an alleged beating that led to the death of 20-year-old Vaiusu man.
The deceased is Penitito Toma.
Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor, Police say.
