Two unit holders with the Unit Trust of Samoa (U.T.O.S.) each received two Samoa Airways return tickets to Australia and New Zealand in recognition of their loyalty as customers.

The return tickets were presented to Dulcie Wong Sin-Simanu and Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren with the latter getting two return tickets to Australia and the former to Auckland, New Zealand.

Mrs. Simanu thanked the U.T.O.S. for the prize which is a blessing in disguise as her mother needed to travel to New Zealand for treatment.

“These plane tickets are so useful for our family, it is because my mother wanted to travel to New Zealand for her medical treatment,” she said.

“Thanks to the prize from U.T.O.S. my mother will fly to New Zealand for her treatment, it is very timely and a blessing.”

The U.T.O.S. Chief Executive Officer, Tevaga Viane Tagiilima, highlighted during a press conference at their headquarters on Wednesday that the scheme was not new.

“The aim of rewarding our unit holders is our way of acknowledging their loyalty and having long held accounts with U.T.O.S. The winners were decided through a draw through the supervision of the Gambling Control Authority with a draw period of every six months," he said.

“The first draw was conducted in June 2019 where two lucky winners were awarded for joining the Trust during its first financial year from the 1st of July 2010 to the 30th of June 2011, a total of 200 unitholders was eligible for that draw.”

Tevaga added that the second draw was drawn on the 22nd of November 2019 under the guidance of the Gambling Control Authority with set criteria that eligible winners specified for the second financial year.

“It means the draw was based on unit holders who opened U.T.O.S. accounts from the 1st of July 2011 to the 30th of June 2012. A total of 324 unitholders entries were registered for this draw.

He also congratulated the winners and encouraged current and new unit holders to continue their investment with U.T.O.S.

“The longer they hold their accounts the more returns through unit value growth.”

Tevaga expressed sympathy and prayers to the families affected by the Measles epidemic on behalf of their Board of Directors, Trustee and the Management and Staff of the U.T.O.S.

The current unit selling price is $1.67 compared to this period last year where the unit price was at $1.62 which is a 5 sene increase or a 3% unit value growth.
