The German Consul for Samoa is now also a high chief of Vaisala Savai'i.

Christa Szegedi was conferred the chiefly title of Tagaloa at the village last Friday.

The honour came as a surprise for the German Consul, who was visiting Vaisala to see the progress of a school project partly funded by the German Embassy.

“I am very privileged and honoured to have been recognised and been given the high title,” said Tagaloa Christa.

“My title will open up doors and more opportunities to work collaboratively with the community and the Germany Embassy and strengthening our partnership.”

Tagaloa Christa also thanked the village of Vaisala for trusting her to carry such an important honour.

Having lived in Samoa for more than 30 years, the German Consul visited the village last week to follow up on progress for the Vaisala Primary School Community Hall Project.

She was recently appointed into the Honorary role in June this year.

Tagaloa is also the Manager of the Treasure Box company in Samoa. She is married to Taumalaulu Stephan Szegedi.
