Three months on since he was last thought to have gone swimming in the early hours of the morning, Semi Leau of Solosolo is still missing.

The 35-year-old man was reported missing on Tuesday, July 23 after last being seen going swimming at around 4am in the morning at the Ocean Club Resort, Maninoa Siumu.

The resort staff confirmed the missing man and an unidentified woman checked in the evening before his disappearance the next morning. 

“They were staying here,” the staff said. 

“They checked in on that evening and the next morning, the only thing I was notified of was that they had gone swimming and didn’t return."

The Police confirmed they had issued a departure prohibition order for the overseas resident, a woman, who was last seen with Mr. Leau. 

The woman's name has not been revealed.

His family told Samoa Observer that although they are sad, they remain hopeful they would discover the body of their brother and son.

Leau has brown eyes was last seen wearing a red t-shirt and brown shorts.

Mr. Leau's family said they were waiting for information while the Police investigations are still underway. 

With the lack of progress in finding the missing man, his family criticised the Police response, charging that they made "little efforts if any" to search for him, since he disappeared. 

“I think our family is doing more work than the police," Nanisese Leau, an aunt of Mr. Leau, told the Samoa Observer.

"We have been trying to get a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, but we have been given the runaround."

Semi is a taxi driver and used to be at the Manutagi Taxi Stand before his disappearance. His family members said he has no wife or children and is the third born of his four siblings.
