Woman charged for pouring hot water on husband

A woman who allegedly poured hot water on her husband has been charged by the Police.

The Commissioner of Police, Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil, confirmed the charges.

“I can confirm she was charged earlier this week and will appear in the Court soon,” said the Commissioner.

The woman is facing one count of causing serious bodily injuries with intent; the penalty is up to ten years in prison.

She has been remanded on bail with conditions that she signs in at the Police Station.

She’s scheduled to appear in the District Court on 21 October, 2019.

The Commissioner declined to further comment on the matter saying that investigations are continuing.

The Police confirmed the matter was referred to their office by the hospital management when the man was admitted.

He was hospitalised for three days and filed his complaint when he was discharged.

In 2017, a man from Vaiusu suffered from a similar incident after his enraged wife poured hot water on him while he was sleeping.

The man, whose name is withheld, sustained burns to a large part of his body.
