Samoa Airways Chairman says negotiations underway
Negotiations are underway between the management of Samoa Airways and the Airline's suspended Sales Manager, Fonoti Micheline Taua'a, in order to reach an amicable solution.
This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Airline's Board, Muagututi’a Lafaele Nagu Chun, in response to questions from the Samoa Observer on the matter.
Fonoti was placed on suspension with full pay two months ago, over allegations she shared confidential information about company business in an anonymous email, to a top Government official.
Contacted by the Samoa Observer, Muagututi’a said their lawyers have been in contact and negotiations to look for a way forward has started.
“Our lawyer has responded to Micheline’s lawyer in the form of a correspondence and they will negotiate the matter in going forward," he said.
“There are allegations and once our lawyers meet with Micheline’s lawyer and we will decide what is next."
Asked to how long the airline will continue to pay Fonoti, the Chairman said the Samoa Airways has to do what is right.
As reported earlier, Fonoti is one of the airline's longest-serving members of staff, and has strongly denied the allegations.
“I have denied all allegations and insinuations directed against me and await the outcome of management’s investigation which I welcome so that I can clear my name," she said, in an e-mailed response to this newspaper.
