Why we do mind

Dear Editor,

I read that article where that Minister who has done little for this country other than an aye and nay tool and fumes come out of my ears in disgust. I know Tolofua from his stint with Polynesian. Apparently he still is the same.

The military has a system of accountability, a judiciary system of court martial, a check and balance system accountable to the common good.

The matai system has none other than an inherent blind loyalty to a supposedly good thing called ‘ava fatafata and va fealoaloa’i.

That is not a Samoan thing but of humans.

The matai system which is now governed by the greed and lust for power individuals is nothing more than a military whose weapons are free issues, but without law.

Dozens of examples of ‘aki ma le lau’, fines imposed by the village fono that cannot be paid, inciting violence to youth in the name of obedience etc etc....

This Minister is trying his best to glorify a corrupt system. I can almost taste the wind of racial prejudice because of Fuiava’s afakasi background.

Don’t go there A.H. That is way above your limited intelligence.

This is the thing; I talked about check and balances. The Commissioner has done more, a move in the positive direction for this country than some people have ever done in their lives.

The real measure of a man is when you take away your job and reveal who you really are. Fuiava will still be himself because he’s a good man from an honourable family who has done a lot for this country.

Take away politics from the Minister and it will be interesting to see what he becomes.

Here’s my personal message to Tolofua, we don’t mind you getting paid with our money, driving our 4WD and getting pampered in glory on our behalf, but when you start spitting out your ignorance on our behalf, that we do mind. Put a sock in it.
