The Brothers and Sisters Golf School has won the final of the International Teuila Tournament at the Fagali'i Golf Course.

Levaiotausala Golf School from Fagalii was first runner up. Third place was split between Fagalii Royalty and Aute o Samoa from New Zealand.

President of the winning team, Tagaloa Dr. Samuelu Leavai, said this is the first time for the Brothers and Sisters Golf School to have won and he is proud of it.

The golf tournament has been active for more than 20 years and its’ an annual event that comprises of Samoa, New Zealand and Australian players.

The objectives for the tournament include allowing the golfers to network and to build relationships between international and Samoan players.

The tournament is also beneficial in helping to develop junior golfers to improve as match play gives them invaluable experience, the President said.

Tagloa said the tournament could have benefited from more sponsors and a standardised system for grading players.

“Because overseas players they have stated handicaps from their system and we don’t have a system like that in Samoa,” he said.

“It would defeat the whole purpose of the whole tournament if the handicaps are not correct or not right for each individual.”

There were four local clubs participating and three from Australia and Samoa and these three clubs from overseas comprised of 50 players.

The management also acknowledged the major sponsors for the tournament, Talua, Sooula Traders, Samoa Commercial Band (S.C.B) and Samoa Country Club (S.C.C) for their support.
