More than a thousand people showed up at The Civic theatre in Auckland, New Zealand on Sunday to witness the world premiere of the newest popular Samoan film, “Take Home Pay”.

The premiere was presented by Beautiful Samoa and the Samoa Tourism Authority (S.T.A.).

“Take Home Pay” is the third feature film from siblings S.Q.S Vaiaoga-Ioasa and Abba-Rose Vaiaoga-Ioasa, after Three Wise Cousins (2016) and Hibiscus & Ruthless (2018).

Laughing Samoans star, Tofiga Fepuleai, is also featured in the film among other talented local and overseas Samoan actors.

Abba Rose describes the new film as “a step up from our previous films, and one in which we aimed to challenge ourselves to create something unique and unexpected, constantly aiming to find new ways to entertain our audience with a universal message but with Samoan style”.

A media statement said the audience filled the theatre with laughter and reassuring response as everyone left the cinema with huge smiles after a taste of Samoan hospitality.

The film’s writer and director, S.Q.S Vaiaoga-Ioasa, thanked the S.T.A. for their support in making the World Premiere a success.

The film will be released in Samoa next month, and following the launch in Auckland, it was released also in Wellington at the beginning of the week.

Other release dates and areas for the film are:

• Australian Premiere in Campbelltown: 29th August

• NZ & Australian Release: 5th September

• Samoa and Pacific Release: 19th September
