Two men have died after a car crash in Falelima, Savai'i on Friday night involving two vehicles owned by the same company.

The fatal accident was confirmed by Police Superintendent, Sala’a Sale Sala’a who is the Commanding Officer for the Savai’i Police outpost.

The identity of the men and the condition of passengers travelling in the vehicles is unknown.

The incident occurred on Friday night between 8pm and 9pm.

“Both of the drivers died, as a result of the traffic incident and it is suspected that alcohol was a major factor," said Sala’a.

“The two cars had passengers and both were admitted into the hospital.

"They suffered severe injuries and it’s unclear whether they have been transferred to the national hospital in Moto’otua."

The two vehicles involved in the crash, a Toyota Dyna and a Toyota ist are both owned by the same company: Apia Lua Ltd.

Apia Lua is a construction and car rental company.

Efforts to get comments from the company in Salelologa have been unsuccessful.

“It is unclear whether the rental was used by a client or was it driven by an employee of Apia Lua," said Sala’a.

“Investigations are continuing on this matter and as for the identities and where the men are from; I cannot give you that information".
