Loau congratulated Savaii on successfully hosting boxing.

The Minister of Sports and Culture, Loau Solamalemalo Keneti Sio has thanked the people of Savai’i for hosting the first ever Pacific Games held in Savaii last week.
Boxing was the only sport of the 26 sport that was held in Savaii. The first ever Pacific Games held on the island.
Loau who was also the Chairman of the XVI Pacific Games ddressed the audience and the people of Savaii at the finale of boxing last Friday.
Savai’i according to Loau has lifted the bar in hosting the games, putting Samoa on the map.
Said Loau, Savaii has exceeded their expectation and the government applaud their efforts in lending their hand and working together to ensure that they successfully host such an event in Samoa.
“Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to make this possible,” he said.
“You guys have embraced this with open arms and big beautiful Savaii smiles.
“Thank you for accepting the request and for being great hosts to our athletes, officials and everyone who travelled to be in Savaii to witness such great sport and success.”
He commended the villages involved in making sure everything ran smoothly during the games.
“It’s not an easy thing to do,” he said.
“But thumps up for all the hard work and dedication in making sure everything will turn out all right.
“Thank you for welcoming our brothers and sisters from around the Pacific and for making them feel at home.
“Thank you for supporting our government in this momentous occasion.
“I also want to thank all the families for coming in and showing your support for our athletes.
“I thank you all on behalf of the organising committee and the government of Samoa.”
