Members of Team Nauru to the 2019 XVI Pacific Games have described their stay in Samoa as an amazing and enjoyable experience.

Speaking to the Samoa observer at the powerlifting tournament recently,  Temakau Tannang from Nauru said his experience in Samoa has been awesome due to the hospitality of the locals and being felt welcomed.

He said he was also impressed with the ability of the country to accommodate 5000 athletes and to be able to run the two-week regional sporting event.

“How they run the Pacific Games, they have done it really well, it's a big event but to manage it to make it successful and the people are lovely,” he said.

Beside the Pacific Games, Mr. Tannang said since his arrival in Samoa last Sunday, he has enjoyed every minute of his stay.

“I have enjoyed my stay here since I arrived here last Sunday till now i enjoy every minute of my stay here."

Amos Horaiso Cook, who is the president of the Nauru powerlifting team, said his stay in Samoa has been enjoyable and despite being busy with the Games he enjoyed it.

He said the Games Village at Faleula is good and the team was comfortable.

“The place we are staying at the village, I think its ok for us and our Team Nauru are doing good so far,” he added.

But for Mr. Tannang, he still could not get over the fact that Samoa was able to accommodate so many athletes and still be able to deliver on the Games programme.

“There are 5000 athletes in the events and the village has done a great job to accommodate the teams, and it's almost impossible to accommodate those 5000 people,” he said.

“I will bring my family for a good holiday here in Samoa, this is my first time in Samoa and I have had a wonderful experience and I am coming back here again."
