A Board member of the Samoa Rugby Union (S.R.U.), Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun, was arrested and charged last weekend on one count of using insulting words and failure to comply with drink driving requirements.

Seumanu, who is also a Board Member of the Samoa Sports Facility Authority has been released on bail. He is also the former Chief Executive Officer of Leadership Samoa.

The charges are in connection with a complaint filed by two women with the Police on Saturday, alleging Seumanu used abusive language against them.

The charges were confirmed by Commissioner of Police, Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil, when contacted by the Samoa Observer.

Seumanu will appear in the District Court for mention on 13 August, 2019.

The Commissioner decline to divulge any more details in connection with the case.

Attempts to a comment from Seumanu were unsuccessful.

This story has been amended to reflect that Seumanu is a board member for the S.S.F.A. not the Ministry of Public Enterprises. The S.S.F.A. is however overseen by the M.P.E.
