Samoa’s Vaimo’oi’a Ripley and Bianca Leilua are leading the women’s one person dingy leader board, with just 19 points as a team putting them in first place ahead of Tuesday races.

The pair are the first of Samoa’s sailors to hit the water, with Parasailing beginning on Thursday and the full fleet beginning their races next week.

Ripley came third twice and fourth ones in her three races of the day, finishing up with 10 points, while Leilua came fourth, third and second in hers wrapping up with nine.

They are behind just Juliette Bone from New Caledonia and Australia’s Paris Van Den Herik with eight points.

Also racing are Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tahiti, the Solomon Islands and American Samoa.

Ripley and Leilua compete again at 10am on Wednesday at the Sheraton in Mulifanua.
