Never give up on trying

Nothing in this life is easy.

But the key is to never give up on trying every day.

That is the opinion of Francis Viliamu from the village of Fasito’o-Tai.

The 44-year-old stays with his mother.

Francis not only works in town, but he is also responsible for taking care of his mother.

“In our family, it is just me and my mother,” he told the Village Voice.

“We have a very small family and I am the one providing for my family.”

“I don’t have anyone to help me but I am used to doing everything for our small family.”

“Because my mother is getting old, she’s not as strong as she used to be. Before, she was the one who was responsible for doing all the domestic chores while I go to work.”

“But now I am now doing everything because she is not the same as she used to be.”

He went on to say that life is difficult nowadays.

“I know a lot of people can agree with me on this,” he said.

“Life is difficult. Even for our family. I know it’s just me and my mother, but there are days where we have no money at all.”

“The money I get for my pay cannot be stretched to cover our needs and wants most of the time.”

However, that doesn’t stop him from keep trying his best every day to provide for his mom.

“This is something we should all remember. We shouldn’t just complain and do nothing. Life is difficult, yes we all know that.”

“But if we just complain and do nothing, then we will just make it worse.”

“I believe that there are a lot of other things that we can do to earn money and to provide for our families.”

“We just got to look around and see what it is and then work hard and be dedicated to whatever you do in life.”

“Like I said, I don’t get much from the job that I do, but I still love going to work because I get to feed my mother with the little money I get from my job.”

“But I don’t stop at one job. I always try and find ways for me to earn money. For example, I always offer my help to do some other works for families in our village every now and then so I can earn extra dollars to buy sugar for me and my mom.”

“I am sure we can all agree that life is difficult and expensive nowadays. But I believe that if we keep trying and if we keep working, we will get by.”
